Fannish Friday 5

If you could erase five characters from any fandom, who would you choose?

Lauren Reed
of Alias played by Melissa George
Love that they got an Aussie on the show, but come on Vaughn marrying anyone but Sydney just does not make sense...

Mandy Hampton of The West Wing played by Moira Kelly
Oh Wait, they practically did erase her didn't they. Oh well, It would have been better if she never existed in the first place (or wait did she?)

The Guy Landry Killed
in Friday Night Lights
Just a story arc that was a total waste of time. I get it, the writers wanted to make Tyra somehow want to be with Landry (Because in real life High School there is absolutely no way a girl like Tyra would ever even be seen with a guy like Landry (thats a position reserved for girls that are well, like me). But Come on killing her attacker was taking it a bit far, not to mention the whole dumping the body off the bridge into the river an all that.

April Nardini
in Gilmore Girls played by Vanessa Marano
Admit it, This was just Amy SHerman Palidino getting back at the network for something and it almost ruined the show. Not so much the character, but just the storyline surrounding her. As if Luke wouldn't run to Lorelai as soon as he found out, and even if he didn't as If Miss Patty or Babbette wouldn't have told Lorelai within a day... Added to that Anna not letting Lorelai spend time with April because being engaged isn't a big enough commitment. Come on... This whole storyline read like bad fan fiction. It would have been more reasonable for Rachel to have had a kid after she left or something.

13, Taub and Kutner in House played by Olivia Wilde, Peter Jacobson and Kal Penn
Nothing against the actors, but what a waste of two years. seriously. Okay it was fun until he actually hired them after that who cared anymore. Hopefully they are all gone for good now, but seriously what a way for them all to leave. On a plane, quitting in the middle of an episode with no warning and a suicide that came so out of the blue it wasn't funny...

It seems that CBS now remains the only big network not to receive the J.J. Abrams magic touch. Today we’ve learned that a new spy project co-written by Abrams  has found a home at NBC, after a prolonged bidding war between NBC, ABC, and CBS. The currently unnamed spy drama concerns a husband and wife spy team—and before you even think it, I figure the show will differ from Mr. and Mrs. Smith (a property which ironically had a lot of trouble coming back to television recently) in some big way. It’s not like Abrams to be lazy with his project concepts, so I’d be surprised if he ended up simply rehashing someone’s previously trodden material.

This project marks Abram’s third foray into the spy genre after hitting it off big with Alias on ABC, and directing Mission Impossible 3. As a diehard fan of Alias (despite its major faults), it’s definitely exciting to see Abrams working in the spy genre on TV again—though I hope that he brings something new to the table with this project. Alias certainly had its fair share of spy couples, so it’s not as if the relationship aspect of the profession is all that new to Abrams.

Josh Reims (Brothers and Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money) co-wrote the pilot with Abrams, and they also worked together on Felicity. The project was produced under Warner Brothers Television just like Fringe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is ends up being yet another TV series that Abrams walks away from soon after it launches. Then again, if Abrams manages to line up a good crew of writers to manage his initial concepts like Fringe (and to an extent, Lost), then that may not necessarily be a problem.

I hope this is a good thing, if it was on any other network I would be beyond exited but it is going to be on NBC and that just screams FAIL

LOST
I am thinking of re watching lost from the beginning in anticpation for the final season,

I just don't know if I want to spend over 81 hours watching TV.

Yes, 81 hours...
116 epsiodes at 42mins = 4872 minutes
4872 divided by 60 = 81.2 hours

Should I make the effort?

There are four teams: Team Rambaldi (Alias), Team Oceanic (Lost), Team Fringe and Team Trek (Star Trek). You compete on one of the teams in different challenges - some art based, fic based, trivia based, luck based, etc., etc.

Which team will win? Come and play and try to make it yours!

I was over at Alan Sepinwall's blog reading his emmy pics for TV this year and I thought I would share my choices. Of course, I don't actually get to submit my ballot, but it is fun anyway.

You can read which actors are on the ballot
