Solar eclipses, like the one visible in India and across Southeast Asia today, have often inspired violence, fear, and superstition in the past. What do they signify to you?

Two things, 1) The moon is in the way of the sun.... How practical of me... and 2) I should probably catch up on Heroes.

Have you ever met or known someone who has the same name as you (first and last) but is not a relative?

View 501 Answers

no, never, I have met plenty of girls with the same first name and many people with the same last name, but never the two together.

A few years back, I was working in Accounts and recived a invoice from someone with the same name as me but it was spelt differently. Thats as close as I got.

What is the most annoying sound in the entire world?

It's a toss up between:
1.Beeping noises (when you don't know the sourse so it just keeps on beeping);
2.When people go through their ringtones on a bus or train; and
3.A phone that just rings and rings (never gets answered).

What celebrity do you think looks like you? What celebrity do other people say you look like?

I don't think I look like anyone or that anyone looks like me. However I have been told I look like Le-Ann Rhymes.

Today is chockfull of celebrity birthdays—Brad Pitt, Keith Richards, Christina Aguilera, and more. What celebrities do you share your birthday with? Do you find any similarities between you and those who share your birthday?

Well I looked at IMDB and Wikipedia to look aat who I share my birthdate (April, 8) with and there a lots of people, I just don't know who many of them are....

Here is a list of the names I recognised:
  • Betty Ford (former First Lady of the United States, from 1974 to 1977)
  • Kofi Annan (served Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1 January 1997 to 1 January 2007)
  • Tom DeLay (US Congressman & House Majority Leader, In Congress from January 3, 1985 to June 9, 2006)
  • Robin Wright Penn (American Actress)
  • Patricia Arquette (American Actress)
  • Taylor Kitsch (Canadian Actor & Model)

As for what I have in common with these people, well I am very interested in politics (maybe not the kind of politics Tom DeLay would like though!!) so that covers Betty Ford, Kofi Annan and Tom DeLay.

I don't know much about the two actresses, but I do love watching movies and TV so maybe thats it.

As for Taylor Kitsch well he is so dreamy and I just adore him... Also I love Friday Night Lights and he plays what has to be one of my favourite characters on the show, Tim Riggins.

The news is full of stories about people cutting back on their spending. What thrifty measures have you taken since the end of the economy as we know it?

I got rid of my mobile (cell) phone, I have saved a bundle...

I also cut down on driving and I borrow my parents or sisters' cars whenever possible (I conveniently park my car in the corner of our front yard, and with 4, sometimes even 5 or 6, cars in my household I get parked in a lot).

What were you doing on September 11th, 2001? How do the events of that day hold meaning for you now?

It was late Tuesday Night here and I has just gotten home in time to watch The West Wing like I did every Tuesday night. So The West Wing was on and they had a newsbreak during the advertisements, at that time only one plane had hit (but we didn't know for sure that it was a plane, there was speculation but it wasn't confirmed). The show came back on. I was switching between all the channels and only channel 10 was reporting it so i would switch between that and The West Wing.

I remember seeing the second plane in the background and thinking it was odd, then just presuming it was a military plane or something, until of course it hit the second tower.

I then went and woke up my parents and I told them what was happening and asking if our cousin was still in New York, Dad said no and then went back to sleep. I don't think they understood what I was saying. About an hour or so later Dad got up again and went into the other room and watched the news in there for a couple of hours.

I think they cut into the American news shows by then and I was watching these news people I had never seen before reporting what was going on and I don't know if they had a time delay or what but I remember seeing the towers come down and the reporter didn't realise for what seemed like forever (it was probably less than a minute).

I stayed glued to my TV all night and into the next day. It wasn't until Wednesday afternoon I actually went to sleep.

As for how the day holds meaning for me now, I don't know really. What I do know is that I wont ever forget that night and that every year I watch whatever documentaries and memorials I can so that won't happen and the memory stays fresh.
